Testing a Post to the New Blog

Greetings from St. Barth's!
As the designated Communications Officer onboard, I am now testing the new blog that I set up to hopefully be able to stay in contact with you while we are crossing the Atlantic. Bob is busy checking out all the systems on the boat while I am checking into the various communication systems that we have. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will work so hopefully this entry will be posted and we will be 1 step closer to staying in touch while on the move (without photos of course!)

A blog site for updates while crossing the Atlantic

As we prepare our last minute items for crossing the Atlantic, we keep trying to figure out the best way to stay in touch while we are crossing.  We found out from others that it is possible to do updates to this blog site via our SSB radio email system.  As a result we are trying to set this up so that everyone can follow us if you are interested.  We also have a link on the right side of the page to shiptrak.org which should show you where we have been and where we are at the time of our last report.   Make sure to enter our call sign on that page to see the results.   We do know that even with this system, we can submit text entries, but no photographs.  As a result any photos from our crossing will have to wait until we arrive in the Azores.

Hopefully this works!!  This entry is from our wi-fi connection while sitting in Gustavia Harbour in St. Barth's.  The next entry should be from our SSB radio email system so we can have this tested and "ready for prime time" when we do finally leave the Caribbean and head east toward the Azores.  Hopefully this will work for both us - it will serve as a journal for us and it will let you know where we are and how things are going.

Here is to the trial entry -  Wish me luck that this all works out!  Just note that I will continue to put my regular blog entries on our other blog site so you should continue to get updated messages whenever I post an entry.
